Our ‘favourites’ are often dictated by what we have an emotional connection to. It’s a complex idea that doesn’t have much explanation – but really the idea is that something that aligns with our tastes and has the most emotional impact upon us is our favourite of something.
My favourite Studio Ghibli movie is Howl’s Moving Castle. I think this is because it was the first I ever saw, I find Sophie relatable, and think it’s a story line and world that I love, and just has a lot that I really like in it.
What’s your favourite Studio Ghibli movie, and why?
I’ve talked on my blog before about how I think tattoos are super cool, but I’m terrified to get any. Recently though, there have been many tattoos added to my list of ones I like and I thought I’d share them!
Manga Tattoo Ideas
I really like the above Nishinoya and Maki panels! They’re such powerful moments from the two of them and the poses and art is beautiful.
Small Tattoo Ideas
I’ve seen a few people with Aizawa’s goggles as tattoos, and they’re a nice small tattoo! I also just like Organisation XIII from Kingdom Hearts and think these two designs would be cute small designs.
Sword Tattoo Ideas
Having swords surrounded by flowers going down them is so pretty! It makes for good customisation options too.
Tetsuya Number 2 from KNB is the cutest dog! He always steals the show, and is so expressive. Everyone (aside from Kagami) is in love with him and for good reason. His little jersey is the cutest thing I’ve seen and he deserves the world.
Jiji from Kiki’s Delivery Service in the English dub is the snarkiest cat and I find him hilarious. Look at him pointing out this mug that looks like him! He’s the best friend/sidekick a witch could have.
Megumi’s Demon Dogs are powerful and super reliable! They’re so cute too when they’re being pat and mimicking everyone calling out ‘Maki nice pitch’ when the Tokyo and Kyoto students played baseball .
Who’s your favourite animal sidekick you’ve seen in anime?
I’ve never cosplayed, but I definitely have some that I think would be cool to do. These are broken up into a few categories.
Ones that I think are achievable for my never having cosplayed before:
I think that Eto is a very realistic cosplan to make. The outfit she wore to her book-signing consists of glasses with a cute hairstyle and a simple white jumper under green over overalls.
Arrietty would be very easy to do as well. I already have long red hair so I’d just need a plain red dress and brown boots. The hair clip would be fun to make too – probably out of foam?
Ones I would make if I had the patience, time, money, practise and talent:
I love Bakugou’s winter costume but it’s so complex I’m intimidated by it. I think doing a female version of Kirishima’s outfit would be cool as well – mostly because I love his head gear – but is also intimidating. Toga has cool accessories that would be interesting to make – but again is also intimidating. Uraraka’s new hero costume is so nice as well but again – intimidating.
The cosplay I think I like the most:
I love Nona’s design. I think it’s just got such nice elements. Her hairstyle and earrings are so elegant and the colour is pretty of her hair. Her outfit too is fairly simple but has cute accessories like her tie and the little frills on her shirt and the design on the hips of the pants.

For every prompt you choose name 1-5 songs (you can use Sophie’s graphics)
Have fun and play your music LOUD!
Home Town Glory // Songs that remind you of home // Midnight Sky by Miley Cyrus
“But it’s been a long time since I felt this good on my own.”
I don’t think this song reminds me of home physically as much as it reminds me of the vibe that we’re all small specks of dust in such a vast universe. I just feel like it would be a great song to have someone dancing to with a brightly star-light night background in a dimly light city or in a landscape like what Ymir was in in Attack on Titan. Someone make this happen for me please. My soul needs it.
It’s a Love Story // Your favourite songs about love // All of Me by John Legend
“What would I do without your smart mouth?”
I just really like this as a love song since it’s sung to the person he loves and includes things typically portrayed as ‘negative’ in a wonderful light. He just sounds so in love.
Shut Up and Dance // Songs you have to dance to // Dancin (KRONO Remix) by Aaron Smith
“Yeah but the feeling is fine.”
This song is such a bop. It’s got such solid beats against the vocals and the little odd sounding runs/trills just helps add to it.
If this was a Movie // Songs from Movies/TV/Broadway // The Plagues from Prince of Egypt
“Serving as your foe on his behalf is the last thing that I wanted.”
This is such a chilling song. The chorus’ harmonies and articulation, the instrumental sections, the lyrics, it’s all so creepy and powerful. The part where they make Moses sing against Rameses too is just perfection.
Comfort Crowd // Songs that make you feel calm // Frozen by Sheldon Riley
“You’re frozen when your heart’s not open.”
In what is probably a rather controversial opinion, I much prefer this cover to the original. The lyrics are so perfect for a ballad and I think the fact he’s projection is so open voweled and warm sounding adds to a sense of longing.
Always Remember Us this Way // Songs that remind you of your childhood // Asereje by Las Ketchup
“Y la baila y la goza y la canta.”
This song purely reminds me of my childhood because my dad sung it so much with us and played it so much. He helped me with my pronunciation too since I always butchered it. Plus, my siblings loved this song when it was on Just Dance.
Let’s Get Down to Business // Songs that motivate you // Son of Man by Phil Collins
“Oh, the power to be strong and the wisdom to be wise.”
I don’t think this song motivates me as much as I just want to say I appreciate Phil Collins absolutely going above and beyond in Tarzan. I don’t even care about his tax evasion this song makes me feel things and stay focused on studying (I don’t do well with upbeat songs while studying, I need songs more in the same vibe as Son of Man to focus).
Old Town Road // Songs from the past that you like // Can’t Help Falling in Love by Elvis Presley
“Would it be a sin if I can’t help falling in love with you?”
This is such a romantic song. No more needs to be said.
Cry with You // Songs that make you cry and cry // Call of Silence by Hiroyuki Sawano
“Even if my body’s bleached to the bones I don’t want to go through that ever again.”
I can’t say anything about this song. I’ll just cry. Please listen to it.
I Think I’m in Love // Your latest music obsessions // Far Beyond by Dexter French
“Through ourselves we send a sign but the message is our breaking.”
I couldn’t think of a latest obsession so I just decided to put what’s probably my favourite song in.
Writer in the Dark // Favourite lyrics from songs // The Loneliest Girl from Carole and Tuesday and TheDOGS by Hiroyuki Sawano
“Do you really want to set the night on fire?”
Lyrically this is just one of my favourite songs from this series. It’s got such a clear story, emotion and message told.
“Were we born to lose and let goliath win?’
You have to listen to this song the lyrics are so good.
Sign of the Times // Songs in the charts that you love // Call out my Name by The Weeknd
“I said I didn’t feel nothing baby, but I lied.”
The Weeknd has such a great voice with so much emotion behind it. This song is feeling.
More Than a Memory // Songs you have specific memories attached to // Right Here, Right Now by Fat Boy Slim
I was deathly afraid of this music video growing up. It got to the stage that just the music would make me physically nauseous. If you made me watch any part of the video I would cry. And if you made me sit through the whole thing it would sometimes get to the point where I was sweating and my hands were minutely shaking.
Sing to Me Instead // Those songs you have to sing to // Take me to Church by Hozier
“I’ll tell you my sins and you can sharpen your knife.”
I seriously considered putting this song under the ‘lyrics’ question for this tag but I just love singing along to it so I had to keep it here.
I Wasn’t Expecting That // Songs that you didn’t expect to love, but you do // Glassy Sky by Yutaka Yamada
“The moments we spent have passed and gone away.”
I was crying too much the first time I heard the song so I knew I liked it but on a second listen I remembering not liking it as much? But I listened to it later thinking I still wouldn’t like it that much and did a total 180. I love this beautiful song.
Favourite Record // Albums you can’t live without // Merry-Go-Round-of-Life by Joe Hisaishi
I actually don’t listen to albums so I wasn’t sure to to put it. However, I will listen to this song for the length of an album. Someone please make a note that I want this song played at every major life event I have and if it’s not I will be upset. Someone better play this behind me while I dance through the street one night after a fantastic day where a wizard walks me through the air.
Video Games // Name your favourite music videos // The Trail We Blaze from The Road to El Dorado
“Changing legend into fact we shall ride into history.”
Okay so I also don’t really watch music videos. However, I have watched the Road to El Dorado many times and its entire soundtrack goes so hard in the movie which is a video. So, on that note I’m putting this song in.
I’ve never been a big person for tattoos, and I know little about the whole industry and process. There are a few tattoo ideas I like, but I am too scared of the pain, up-keep, if employers will be negative about them, and other variables to be willing to risk it.
So in saying that, I mostly find the ones I like are placed on wrists, ankles, down the arm or even following the ribcage along the back. I like black ink too. I’m sure the tattoos on this post reveal my tastes anyway.
So without further ado, I have been scrolling through the internet this week and found some really cool Studio Ghibli tattoos that I thought I would share!

And so here are my answers!
How did you come up with your blogging name?
To be honest I don’t really know how. I started my blog last year in October so I was probably in a Halloween mood (though I’m always in a Halloween mood) and I have red hair so it just sort of happened…
What do you love most about blogging?
I like when I manage to get to talk to other bloggers! Everyone’s always so nice and interesting to talk to 🙂
What do you hate most about blogging?
Hmm I don’t think there’s anything I really hate… But I suppose I feel like I’ve ended up sort of sticking to a ‘branding’ so to say…
But I’ve started to not post daily (because life) and this has actually been good for me because I know that there’s nothing really anything ‘expected’ of me. It’s my choice about what I want to badly write about or scream about incoherently. So if I don’t post, I don’t post. What I want to write about, I can write about (though obviously I wouldn’t post anything disrespectful, but you know what I mean when I say ‘I can write about anything I want!’ There are certain boundaries I’m not willing to cross)
I also have been wanting to start doing some stuff about movies and more TV series that don’t really ‘fit’ with what I post about at the moment so I’ve been a bit scared about adding them in. But as I said, I know that I can choose what I want to post so I need to just start doing it!
Do you have some favourite blogs to recommend?
I have been pretty dodgy lately with keeping up with reading blog posts, and there’s so many bloggers I follow with awesome blogs so this is super hard to answer! So I’m just going to put down some of the blogs I follow that I love to read (that sounds bad, because that doesn’t mean I don’t like reading other people’s blogs… These are just ones that I find I can always engage with or be interested in or I like how they write/review. Wait, does that also sounds kind of bad? I follow over 350 blogs so I don’t get to read everything so it’s just more that I don’t have enough time to read it all so I’m struggling to narrow it down to only a few blogs to put down here since there’s way too many great ones. It does’t mean that not that I don’t love you. I appreciate you and that’s what I’m trying to say! You’re doing great!)

Do you have one or three personal favourite posts you’ve written?
Ooh okay this is hard. I’d have to say that my favourites are…
– 12 Reasons why Sailor Moon is Amazing: Regarding Sexuality and Gender
Equality’s a really important thing for me. So anything where there’s inclusivity is a big yes from me (so long as it’s not problematic because I’ve seen some… interesting… takes on ‘equality’ before). I also like Sailor Moon and its normalisation of queer couples and characters who aren’t cisgendered. And this is something I really admire about the series 🙂
– 6 of the Greatest Feminist Studio Ghibli Films
As I said before, equality is something I value quite a lot. And one of my favourite things about Ghibli movies is their realistic portrayal of its females characters. All their female characters are unique, independent and amazing ladies
– Angel’s Egg: Thoughts on 4 Key Aspects of this Film
I like this one because it’s actually the first (and only) analysis I’ve done on my blog. I’d like to do more analyses and reviewy things though in the future! So it was a good post for me to write to realise that if I wanted to I could do this and it not be terrible! I’m actually pretty happy with how it turned out 🙂
And here are my questions:
1. How did you come up with your blogging name? (Again, stealing the question… It’s a good one!)
2. If you had to change your username and/or blog name, what would you change it to?
3. What is one thing you’d like to post about on your blog that you haven’t yet? (A certain show, type of format etc.)
4. What first got you into blogging?
5. What was the latest blog you’ve followed?
Thanks for reading! Hope you guys are having a good day! ❤
“Don’t expect perfection at first” – Shirou Nishi, Whisper of the Heart
The films that Miyazaki directs are actually created completely in his vision. He’s the one to storyboard everything, and then use those images to create his films
Before the company’s break, there was around 400 people on staff. These members had a range of jobs – from drawing frames by hand to then copying them and then digitally colouring them
Studio Ghibli has produced 7 films that rank among the 15 highest-grossing anime films made in Japan
Toshio Suzuki was Studio Ghibli’s producer for over 35 years before retiring from the role in 2014 (when he then took the position of general manager)
Miyazaki doesn’t write scripts or screenplays. Instead, he works off of his extensive and detailed storyboards to create images for his stories and dialogue
The name ‘Ghibli’ is based on what is known as the ‘Arabic sirocco’ (which is ‘the Mediterranean wind’). The studio decided on this name because they wanted to, “blow a new wind through the Japanese anime industry”
