    Transformation, time-space manipulation, summoning, flaming pentagram and telekinesis… He can do it all! The King of Time is the second strongest demon king, and powerful enough to block any higher ranking demon from entering the academy!

    Arthur (firstly, what a name… such lovely use of alliteration) is a Paladin – so obviously he’s strong. He also has enhanced speed, enhanced strength and spectral awareness

    Because to his heritage, Rin has the Flames of Satan, the ability of pyrokinesis and is able to take on a demon form. Rin’s other skills then include high speed regeneration, spectral awareness, enhanced strength and telepathy

    There’s no doubt that Shura is powerful. She’s an excellent sword wielder, a tamer (with her familiar she is able to create both barriers and track other people/objects), has some skill in sealing and is also an Aria

    Satan, as the main antagonist, is one powerful character. He has superhuman strength, can summon the Gehenna Gate, superhuman endurance, superhuman speed, fire manipulation and an ability known as Infernal Wind

    I mean, Yukio’s the youngest to have ever passed the qualification test to become an Exorcist so we can assume that he’s pretty talented. Yukio is a Doctor and a Dragoon, is a tamer, and (in the anime) is able to take on his demonic form

    The King of Light is the strongest demon king and while we may not know the full extent of his powers, Mephisto has admitted that even if Lucifer was in his weakened state that he (Mephisto) would still be not be able to defeat Lucifer

3 REASONS TO READ ‘BLUE EXORCIST’

“You can badmouth me as much as you want, but don’t make fun of my brother!” – Rin

Blue Exorcist (created by Kazue Katō) tells the story of Rin Okumura, who along with his twin brother Yukio, was raised by Father Fujimoto – an Exorcist. But then Rin learns that he and Yukio are the sons of Satan, and that he has inherited Satan’s powers… So when Satan kills Fujimoto, Rin enrols in True Cross Academy. This is where he will learn to become an Exorcist in order to defeat his father!

  1. The art is awesome! It’s so well-drawn!

  2. The plot is interesting – it’s filled with action, different characters and is very well-paced! Not to mention that the series does actually have a bit of an ‘intro’ at the start! This allows you to understand what the situation is in the story and gain some insight into the world the characters live in and the lives they lead

  3. Although it’s obviously a shonen series and fulfils some of the more typical plot points and character tropes of the genre, this series is great because the characters that have been created by Katō are pretty funny, likeable and interesting
