8 THINGS THAT I WASN’T PREPARED FOR BEFORE WATCHING PSYCHO-PASS

Before watching the first episode that is. I’ll be able to move onto the 2nd eventually. Hopefully within the next month… For some reason I just didn’t expect it to be this intense? Maybe it was because I only read the synopsis and didn’t really know what I was getting into?

1. So much happened in these 20 minutes! It was intense something after intense thing after intense stuff.

   

2. All the blood. Okay, sure, laugh all you want. But like I said, I didn’t really know that much about the series before diving in and definitely wasn’t mentally prepared for this.

   

3. The differences in opinions between Akane and her squad was a bit startling when I was still trying to figure out who was who and what their crime co-efficient was. Because then I all of a sudden had to also try and remember the different characters’ opinions as well.

   

4. Why did her first case with this squad have to be super intense? Is that meant to be like the easier stuff they’re going to have to handle?? Because Akane just graduated and this was her first case???

   

5. The fact they have robots too? For that?! That’s pretty creepy. I mean, I know in our world we do have them and all that but I still think it’s gross (sorry if I’m offending your opinions on this topic by the way… But I’m always going to stand by that I think it’s gross).

   

6. The Dominators and the fact that they decide who you can kill is terrifying. That’s so subjective and it scares me. It must be so scary to know that depending on your psycho-pass you’re then limited as to what you can do and that just because you’ve experienced some awful things then you can also possibly be killed on the spot before you’ve even had any therapy and it’s all still happening and fresh?

   

7. Therapy seems to be the go-to thing here but how much therapy must a person need after going through something as horrific as that? Some people wouldn’t be able to recover from that. It must be horrible for victims. But then they can kill them before therapy? So it’s really up to the enforces and inspectors? That can’t be fun to think about.

   

8. Plus let’s throw in some questioning of the system into this first episode too! Because that seems to be the main theme that’s going to be explored throughout the series because one: the synopsis told me so and two: because Akane and the enforcers had some clashing ideas and they made that pretty obvious. And yes introducing this theme is important in the first episode and it’s actually a very interesting concept to explore but I can’t watch so much gore, walk into and engage with a philosophy debate and also try to hide my phone screen from people peering at all at the same time without overloading a bit

   

So in conclusion, I should never watch anything that’s rated above PG.

But in all seriousness, this series seems really awesome. I like the entire concept of this anime and it seems really cool (despite me freaking out over the first episode). I actually, well, I wouldn’t say that I exactly enjoyed watching the first episode, but it’s gotten me really interested in the series. There’s certainly so much that they can work with here. The animation is really good, the characters are super interesting and quite mysterious and I’m now invested to find out what else is going to happen throughout the series! So once I collect myself, be prepared to find me in a corner of the internet loving Psycho-Pass!
