Got to love Winnie the Pooh ^_^
- Apparently, the ‘Pooh’ part of Winnie’s name came from a swan. It’s said that the Milne family met a swan named Pooh on vacation (said swan is also referred to in his poem The Mirror)
- Winnie the Pooh was inspired by a real life bear named Winnie who ended up being the mascot for an English regiment that her owner was in. However, Winnie the Pooh’s design was based upon illustrator E. H. Shepard’s son’s stuffed teddybear named Growler
- The Hundred Acre Wood was inspired by Ashdown Forest, Sussex, England – which is where Milne had bought a house back in 1925
- Winnie the Pooh has been translated into over 50 different languages
I knew two out of four. I’d say that’s not too bad.
