The Castle of Cagliostro, 1979, follows the adventure of a master thief named Arsene Lupin III. When Lupin discovers that the money he robbed from a casino is counterfeit, he goes to Cagliostro – the place where the counterfeit money is rumoured to have come from. There he comes across a princess who is being forced to marry a count who’s just interested into finding the legendry treasure of Cagliostro… Lupin teams up with his regular adversary and a fellow thief in order to save the princess and stop the count before it’s too late!

  1. Lupin is an anti-hero – making for a refreshing story compared to your typical protagonist

  2. Despite the movie only being 100 minutes long, there is a lot of action and adventure packed into it! Not only that, but the plot is actually fairly in-depth and there is substantial character development too!

  3. And what would a Miyazaki be without his art style? All the characters in this film are drawn well and even for all the action in the movie, the sequences are drawn fluidly
