You will absolutely adore so many of the characters. Despite falling a bit into tropes (like the conman and the genius with no art talent), they each have their quirks which make them all the more likeable. I was worried when I first started the series that they were going to make Arslan into spoiled brat and was so happy when I was proven wrong! He’s openly compassionate and effeminate (which doesn’t blend well with the overly-masculine court), but he remains kind and uses his intelligence and skills to pursue his hope to save his kingdom and improve society
If you like the types of stories featured in RPGs, chances are this series will be your thing! It’s set in a fantasy world, there’s a war going on and there’s also an interesting and fairly complex plot – including political intrigue and plot twists
